does YOUR cat’s food contain rice?

one more reason NOT to feed commercial food to your cat – studies now show that rice will inhibit the absorption of taurine. Cats cannot produce their own taurine and this can lead to heart abnormalities, blindness and death.

I was completely unaware of that study. Thanks for sharing it. I’m amazed at the degree to which the rice appears to inhibit the taurine absorption. I never would have guessed.

For those of you who resent this post – please remember there ARE people out there who are interested in learning whatever they can about nutrition. Just because you are not does not mean that nobody is. Just because you have decided not to feed raw now does not mean you can’t educate yourself.
